The most famous and prolific Limerick Poems examples have been written by Edward Lear. Edward Lear's Book of Nonsense was published by Thomas McLean on 10th February 1846 and consisted of 72 limericks. Another famous author of limericks was the great Bard himself, William Shakespeare. Shakespeare wrote two limericks which were included in his plays King Lear, The Tempest and Othello. Other famous authors of Limericks include Ogden Nash, Rudyard Kipling, Mark Twain, H. G. Wells, T. S. Eliot, John Galsworthy, James Joyce and Lewis Carroll and Isaac Asimov who wrote the infamous Lecherous Limericks.
